I have plans to start a second freshwater aquarium. I am looking to have a pair of angel fish. What size tank would be appropriate for these fish? I would probably also want to add a few bottom dwellers. Probably just some cories from my larger tank. I do not want anything to large. I have a 30 gallon in storage but I am unsure if this is big enough.

    Thanks in advance.

That would work just fine for a pair of angels. :D

I agree with Anthony.... that would be perfect for 2 angels and a few small dither fish.

    That is great news... [dancing]

I was hoping my 30 gallon would work so last night I put the filter I had for the 30 onto my 75g (obviously along with the one I already had for the 75).

Since I already have an established tank I plan to clone it with just moving the filter (for the 30) and some aged water to the smaller tank. How long would you recommend I leave the filter I have for the 30 gallon on my 75g. I am not sure if it is possible but I want to try and avoid a mini cycle on the 30g.

    Thanks Again

It's going to take a few weeks before bacteria colonizes on the media in the new filter. You should be good to go if you keep it on there for 2 weeks. Keep an eye of the water parameters though. If you can wait, I'd leave it on 3-4 weeks but I know we're not all that patient. LoL

I am going to try and be as patient as I can. I would like to wait the 4 full weeks, but I already may have some angels lined up. The good thing is I have been SUPER busy lately (working 24 out of 25 days, plus night class 2x a wk with a huge mid term coming up) so I probably will not have the time to get them anyways, plus I will keep in mind that it is for the good of the fish as I would be heart broken if I ever lost one due to my neglience....

I will update the forum when I get it going.

    Thanks.

Also in addition, if possible add the corys and the tetras first. Let them live in the tank for a week or 2 at least before adding the angels... This would help what Anthony stated about the bacteria. Plus Tetras would be good with Angels as they both require similar water parameters and both are sensitive to them. Basically if a tetra dies in the tank, it (usually) will before the Angel which gives you a good warning something may be wrong.

if you seed the filter for atleast 8 days on the 75 and take water from the 75 and out in the 30 you can add fish after the 8 days with no worries
