    question on betta

OK I was looking at my female betta today and on her bottom inbetween her bottom fin and here belly there is like a little white button or some thing seemlier, and I was wonder if that mean any thing.

i have read in to breeding it seem like one of the things to look for to see if the female ready to spawn.

(Note: She has a rounded belly too)

Ehhh it does not really matter... they all do it from time to time.... I have bough baby fish that had it out.... It means you have a female :) Males do it to but the button shape is female...

so is these a sign that she is able to breed or not? if she is should I keep her on high protein food until the male is ready?

How do I tell if the male is ready?

I dont know bettas and I know they are different than what I am used to... BUT I just put the male and female together when they should be sexually mature... Bettas are different so I dont know

The tube hanging out is no indication that they are ready to breed... they all do it from time to time like I said...

An extended breeding tube does not necessarily mean the fish is ready/able to breed.

    Males are always ready. :)

I know how to spawn them, that the simple part the only problem is knowing when they are ready and get two that will happily spawn.

My guess is there is a standard age that they are ready... guess your fishes age and then wait a few more months...

    betta spawning help

    betta spawning help

OK I go on aquabid a lot, almost ever day just to see what on there. I have notice things like almond leaf and almond leaf extract to be use with bettas, and I was wondering if this help them or people just think it helps them?

If that is so what is the best kind of almond tree leaves are best to use.(I asking if there different ones but i think there is only one.)

If It helps I would like to get my own almond tree, because that way free almonds to go with my leaves.

    Betta diet?

    Betta diet?
Hey all. After finishing off the jar of cheap betta food I bought when I got my first betta almost two years ago, I've decided to upgrade my gang's food a bit. I compared the different varieties at Petsmart and finally decided on Nutrafin Max (would have gone with Omega One 'cuz I loved that for my tiger bards I had, but the price was better on the Nutrafin). Anywho, everyone I've talked to has said that their bettas absolutely love freeze-dried bloodworms. So, I bought some of those too. I followed the directions on the package (basically, sprinkle a few in the tank and let the fish have at 'em) and every single last one of my bettas turned their nose up at them. Is there something else I need to do (soften them or something), or do I just have ten picky eaters? :p

Oh! And here's my new guy, Liam:
