have about a 5-6 inch red devil in a 65 gallon tank and i am looking something to go in there as scavenger/dithers to help keep the waste food cleaned up,well i had 4 little africans in there cause they stay toward the bottom and they are really fast so i thought they would work great  no such chance, for the last 2 mornings i have found one each morning that looks like he got hit by a mack truck, i guess even though there is good hiding places that the devil is still to smart for them :) . so is there anything that will work with this guy as a scavenger or is his only suitable tank mate rocks and wood

Standard Pleco and eclipse catfish. They stay in hiding during the day, but once the lights go out, they turn into vacuums. At least that worked for me anyway.

They'd make a nice snack for the red devil. :)

I was literally sitting here thinking well maybe since its a pack they will look larger and more agile to the rd and it will leave them alone, or maybe it will grow tired of killing so many cories that it might leave one or two alone.

    No problem ;)
I did see a guy put a colony of discus in with a 7" flowerhorn. He said he went to the bathroom and when he came back, he picket out the survivors

Try Spotted or Stripped Raphael Catfish? Those have some defense against cichlids.

Its probably a bit late, but an eclipse cat probably wouldn't be a good idea..My 12''er will violently fight back if anything is attacking it.
