    Scissortail Rasbora

Origins:Southeast Asia, occuring in parts of Malaysia, Sumatra, and Borneo.
    Size: 6"
    Diet:Flake and livefoods
    Water:Temperature 73-77F;soft (50 mg/l) and acidic (pH 6.0-6.5)
    Temperament:Peaceful and Social.

The striped pattern on the sides of the Scissortail Rasbora's silvery body becomes more evident toward the caudal fin. This rasbora's common name derives from the way the deep fork of the caudal fin tends to close up, like scissor blades, as the fish moves through the water. The size and shoaling behavior of Scissortail Rasboras means that they will benefit from being housed in a relatively long aquarium, where planting is restricted to the sides of the tank.

Note>they have a dark spot on each lobe of the caudal fin.

cissortail Rasboras are a larger species that will reach three inches and do well when kept in a school of six or eight. They should have adequate swimming space and darkish aquascaping. Scissortail Rasboras are a hardy fish and will do well at a water temperature between 72º and 82º Fahrenheit with a pH between 6.0 and 6.5 and moderately soft water. All flake and freeze-dried foods are accepted.
The Rasbora trilineata or Scissor Tail Rasbora is also called the Three Lined Rasbora in some places. They have a forked tail (caudal fin) that has black and white markings on it that are similar to the dorsal fin on the pristella tetra. There is a horizontal black bar on the mid section that runs the length of the body. The forked tail gives them a unique swimming style that is the reason for the common name. Their tail makes an opening and closing scissor like motion while swimming.
If you're looking for a nice, easy going community fish for the top parts of your freshwater fish tank this fish may be for you. They will bring lots of activity to the top levels of your aquarium and should not bother any of their tank mates.

Feeding them should not pose a problem since they will take flakes, frozen and freeze dried foods. They especially like freeze dried blood worms, but don't over do it. A little bit of the freeze dried bloodworms goes a long way and only give them this food as a treat every once in a while. A good quality flake food should serve as the main part of the Scissor Tail Rasbora's diet.
