Ok i have a 75 gallon tank using 1 emperor 400 and 1 aquaclear 110 filter. water is very soft and alkaline. the tank has a sand bottom with silk plants. i have my heart set on getting a rokteil severum, and am looking for tankmates. the severum i will get is about 2" long so i need appropriate sized fish.

here is what i am looking at now:
    1 severum
    12 cories 4 by 3 different varities
    12 columbian tets
    8 torquise rainbow
    2 pibull plecos

    any comments?

My first question would be why would you place a 12"+- adult severum with fish that will be 2" max

you misread my post. the severum is 2" long..........i need compatible tankmates.
i am open to any type of recommended stocking. if anyone sees something in my list that wont work just let me know........total novice with severum.

Compatible now and compatible at adult size are two different things in this situation. Is there a reason you only want one severum in the tank as opposed to a pair ?

only reason i didnt want a pair is i have read about probs. with them choosing a mate. i am unable to get paired fish or even choose the fish i am purchasing. have to get them online, no LFS out here.
that is the only reason i was leaning towards 1 severum.

i have read ideally you want multiple severum and let them choose their mates then remove the other sevs. just not possible with my situation.
i have read that the plecos and cories are ignored by the sev. right?
i just need suggestions as what else to do.
as i said total severum novice here.

Oh okay that would make sense then.

Because of their aggressive nature as adults your stocking should reflect their adult temperament not that of a juvi.

With one fish at 12" and others at 2-4" the severum is likely to make snacks of the little ones. The cories and plecos should be okay since they'll generally be on the bottom of the tank. I would worry about the tetras and rainbows with their much smaller size.

Something like Blue Gouramis may work since their adult size is 6".

I would think you could get away with 3-5 of these guys.

No they aren't. Most of the other types of Gourami will be smaller, 4" or less. You can mix them but the Blue Gourami is the largest that I know of.

That's a dwarf type, likely similar to the Flame Dwarf on liveaquaria.

ok i got the bottom dwellers covered with the cories.

Trichogaster trichopterus "Platinum Gourami" these guys seem very attractive.
