Do i dare try to put my betta from my 5 g tank to my 10 g
So I have a 10 gall community tank set up with 4 fish. I currently have my male betta in a 5 gal. I had just put my new guppy in with him because he was terorizing everybody else in the tank. I just got the guppy and the other 3 fish today. When I had first put the evil guppy into my betta's the betta was chasing around the guppy at first. Then I watched a bit longer and the betta has settled down and is now ignoring the guppy even during feeding time.

Do you think i should test him out in my 10 gal so that he has more room and a heater? Or should i just keep him in my 5 gal.

Eh, it may work but considering you already have a nice 5 gallon tank for him I'd say keep him there to avoid any potential problems.

Is the 5 gallon not heated? Please tell me it is at least filtered?

I feel that bettas are more at risk for other fish nipping their fins than vice versa.

There is a filter, and i do want to put a heater in the tank. But my problem is i don't think there is any room in the hood to put the heater, and behind the hood is the filter so i don't know where i would put a heater, all of my other tanks have heaters but that one. And i feel really bad for the betta having to deal with extreme temperatures from like 40s and 50s at night to like 70s and 80s during the day. And i can't afford to buy another tank so that he can have a heater, so i don't know what to do

ok, that is my other worry, so far watching my evil guppy and my betta, there is no fin nipping and they just ignore each other but i don't know how my other fish would be, they seem really peacefull and that's why i moved my guppy to my betta cause he was attacking everyone

My suggestion would be to buy a small submersible heater for the tank. The betta or any other fish for that matter will suffer greatly from the temperature swings.

ok, i hope it would fit, and that's the smallest heater that i could find, its supposed to fit a 5 to 10 gall tank

They may seem as though they are doing fine but they are tropical and will have long term bad effects from the temp swings.

ok i may have to wait to next week to get a heater for the betta because cash is currently low and thats when i get my pay check (jumps up and down) so for the time being i may try the betta in my community and just watch them or just keep him in the 5 gal without a heater until next week
