Cute, with the bright neon cave it would really POP with a crystal black background!

Nice lil setup you got there for your betta ;)

Thanks guys, the betta really likes the little cave, she swims through it all the time. My little sister helped me pick it out, she did good! So I think I might have to look for a black background now.

you can buy one, or you can do a simple black piece of fabric/shower curtain.

I used to have a 15g with those fluor. caves...black sand substrate...and black crystal like background..and it looked dang good!

that would most likely depend on the college.

i was just answering your guestion. some schools may be max size of 55gal, some maybe smaller, some may say none, some may say as long as it fits thru the doors. it would probably depend on their rules/policies.
or did i just misunderstand your question completely ?

imo...i would say something like a 20 gal long would be a good size for a dorm room. also have to consider tranporting tank/fish back home when off on breaks/holidays.

warning>>that betta will probably pick that shrimp off unless you have somewhere for it to hide

There is a hiding place among the artificial plant, if the shrimp can find that, he should be good

Well, today I purchased a new betta for my 1.5g. He seems happy in it..so far. I also (impulsively) bought a 10g kit from walmart, it was 35 dollars for filter, tank, light hood and some sample stuff. Not bad. So now I have an empty 10g, and an empy 20g sitting in my room.

so what are you going to put in the 10g and 20g?
The 10g would make a cute planted tank with cherry shrimp!
