Anyone know about the snow white cichlids? How big do they get? Is a 20g big enough? Just saw them at Petco. Daughter wants a black and white tank and I was going to get mollies but I think white cichlids with black gravel and a black background would be awesome.

They get to be about 5" and I wouldn't place them in a 20 gallon tank.

I have one in a 20 gallon now. I'm moving it to my 55 soon. Anthony is right, that Cichlid will need a bigger tank...

They can get to 6 plus inches and are highly aggressive once they start getting bigger. If you get them def get a bigger tank.

I moved mine to a bigger tank and he grew quick. Pretty aggressive fish too. Really pretty though. You should use the blacklight bulbs that they use in saltwater tanks for them. Those bulbs make the fish look really cool!!

Don't use blacklight bulbs on any fish tanks. The UV they produce can cause problems. The bulbs you're referring to are actinic, not blacklights.

Yeah, thats what I meant. They give off a black light looking color in the tank. LFS over here has them in there Snow White tank and it makes the fish look really cool! The guy working there said they were the bulbs they use in Saltwater tanks.... :)
