I would really like to find out about a smaller fish for a community tank with angels, Krib pair, DG, and red eyed tetras., I'm not adding anything at moment but some angels, eventually (within 2 months) I will be setting up another tank 29 gal or larger. What I would like is a fih that will stay closer to the surface that is not a skooling fish. I need suggestions so I can make a decision when the time comes. :D

Just so I have it straight. The tank size will be a 29 and the inhabitants will only be two angels or all the fish you listed?

Not sure about the compatibility as I kept angels with a moreso active community tank (tetras, plecos, pictus cat, barbs, etc)....
but these hang near the top:

    (*) african butterfly fish
(*) danios & giant danios (will school)
    (*) Hatchetfish (will school)
(*) golden wonder killifish (will school)
    (*) upside down catfish
    (*) halfbeak

Sorry about the confusion there, The 29 is set up now with these fish. I will only have 2 angels 2 DG 6reyed eyed tetras and pair Of Kribs with cleaners hopefully BN plecos.

With hatchet fish would 4 be okay with skooling or should there be more in numbers?

ime marbled are easy going, silvers can be a bit nasty and get bigger (or at least when I had them they got bigger than the marbles).

I like the marbles better anyway. How big do marbles get?

That's a perfect size for 4 of them.
Any info on cardinal tetras. I know they like skooling. Where in the tank do they gravitate to? Would they compete in the same area of the tank as angels? It's only a 29 gal and I want the angels (marble) to be the focus.

cardinals are middle to bottom (mine were moreso bottom).
Cardinals should be okay, just make sure not to do the neons (smaller).
If you want marble angels to be the focus I wouldn't do cardinals though (or neons for that matter)..they are bright and flashy...would take away from the angels.

Keep with the marbled theme (hatchets & angels)

i was just checking on something...these are compatible with what you have and all are top level swimmers:

    (*)african butterfly fish
    (*)upside down catfish
    (*)Zebra, Pearl, & Leopard Danios
(*)Scissortail Rasbora - Mid--> to Top
(*)Hemiodus- Top all the way to the bottom

--->might wanna take a look at this for picts and addtl suggestions...
