So, I got the tank and a whole wack of free fish. I paid for the tank, as the price was right. Now I have a good stock of random Mbuna, but not teh ones I want. There are too many males of one breed, not enough females or any of another, and there is too much aggression as the tank is not stocked well or right. Here is the issue. I want to get rid of some ( guilt ridden ) and add others.

I will tell you the list and you can tell me what you would add, subtract, like better, etc.

What I have now in the tank....

    1 male/3 female Red Zebra
    2 male/3 female Auratus
    1 albino Socofoli
    1 Lithabait
    1 albino female auratus
    1 male Socofoli
    1 male Cobolt
2 male/1 female Red top Zebra
1 male/1 female Rusties (they do breed)

What I have that hubby wants out of his tank

    1 male/2 female yellow labs
    1 male/2 female Kenyi (1 has 25 fry)
    2 male OB Zebras

Here is what I see so far in my Mbuna tank (55 gal with overstock)

    1 male/3 female Auratus
    1 male/3 female Johanni
    1 male/2 female Rusty
    1 male/2 female yellow lab

What else? Enough? Suggestions ( I like Enlongatus and Demonsi too)

Yes....but revamped. I am not keep all those fish, nor want to. The list of definates are:

    1 male/3 female Auratus
    1 male/3 female Johanni
    1 male/2 female Rusty
    1 male/2 female yellow lab

But wanted to know what others would you keep or add. I like to overstock as it keeps agression low and breeding high. These are my breeding tanks. They were the guys too, but he sold and filtered out random fish.

1 1/2 to 3 inches as of so far for the ones I have that I plan to keep. All the fish in the tank (keep and want to get rid of) range from 1 in to 4 inches.

Okay. How about adding the Albino Female Auratus, 1 Male OB Zebra, 3 Female Red Zebras, and the trio of Kenyis. ?

That could work. It would look good color wise too.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I was trying to add ones that could hold their own, aggression wise, against the others as well.

You should have seen what the alpha male Auratus did to the male Kenyi. It was scarey. I had to move hhim into another tank to heal. He is fine but beat up bad. Once he heals and that male is gone (way too aggressive) then I will add the Kenyi to that tank.

Yeah, one of my faves, but very aggressive. I seem to attract those kind. The other male is pesty, the girls want him, and he is nicer I think. The alpha is a butt!

I had two in the very beginning when I was setting up my Cichlid tank... I traded them in weeks later. :)

I am not much into the bread and butter africans, I like the peacocks haps and the likes..it is only the rare and harder to find Mbuna that I look for.

This is why I am so happy to have 9 Afra cobue juvies sitting in our 30G growout..getting ready for center stage and breeding!
