So I was talking to the boss "my wife" and she said "there is no way in hell you are spending that much money on a bigger tank for those ugly ass fish"! I loved them but you know how that goes, didnt say I couldnt get a bigger thank thought  just not one for them. I found a nice little fish store and took them in, the pleco seemed fine not stressed and went into a main tank that was 300g with some other pleco's and other large fish. The oscar on the other had looked bad, was almost grey and pink... very stressed so the guys put him into a 200g tank to himself. I hadnt planned on asking anything for them but did remeber that my son's tank needed a new pleco of sorts. He had a bushy nose in there but he didnt make it, not sure why might of been sick to begin with or just wasnt strong enough for the move. So I got him a larger bushy nose that will at some point go into my 29g once that tank is re-done. Im thinking a "planted community" for that one not sure yet.

I just want to thank everyone so far on the help and information that I have gotten thus far. I did not realize how bad of a situation my fish were in until I found these forums. There health and saftey are the first priority for me and I thank you for setting me straight... so to speak.

I plan on starting the 29g within the next couple of weeks need to clean it really well and start to cycle it until then thank you and I will be reading just not posting for awhile till I have something to post about.

Glad to see you found them a good home in a much larger tank. ;) A 29 gallon tank will make a nice little planted community tank.

I agree, 29 would be nice! BUT, if the boss (being a wife myself) allows it I'd shoot for a 55g (easier to maintain stabilitiy imo) and gives you much more possibilities for a nice community with plants. IF I were to have to bargain I think I would ask her what she'd like to see go in the tank and make a date out of picking the fish so to speak...that way she'll feel considered and you can score the bigger tank. Haha!

If your going to try and swing for a bigger tank, get at least a 75 or 90, they are the same length as a 55 but are wider thus expanding the possibilities tremendously!

Agreed! Neither look like bathtubs either which should keep the wife happy!

It all depends on the deals I can find, I dont plan on buying a new tank so the biggest I can get for the cheepest price... only time will tell with that. In fact she doesnt care about the size but she does want nice fish in it, that is why the 29g in the family room will be a "peacefull" tank. I am re-doing our garage to make it into more of a living space so I can put anything out there really. I am going to look at this 240g that was at a garage sale yesterday if the price is right I might get that. I dont want to spend more than a 1k setting everything up so who knows.

I have gotten 2 125 gallon full setups for less than half of what you want to spend, look on CL and ebay for good deals in your area for used tanks that include everything you will need. Also, dont be afraid to offer less.
