O, I'm wondering, what would I to set a fry tank up, I'm just wondering if the idea going around in my head is the right Idea.

    I thinking
10 gallon tank that bare bottom
    a sponge filter or two
    and a heater

Would I need anything else for a fry tank?

note: I looked it up on the search and got really only mentions of it, not details on them.

For a fry tank/quarantine tank you got it right.
    Bare bottom
    cover top to prevent suicides
    Sponge filter
    Heater
    Light (on timer)..can do without...but I wouldn't
maybe toss in some breeder grass with something to weigh it down (rock comes to mind)...to make they feel secure
Can cover it on all 3 sides for qt to reduce stress.

OK cool, If I get a cover it will be a cheap one piece of glass or plastic, I could throw my soon to be old 20 gallon tank light on it, that is if the bulb light set up will fit on my 20 gallon.

Wouldn't count on the light fitting on it. Hoods can be found really cheap on ebay or thrift stores for a 10g.
That or use a gooseneck lamp and position it behind/over the tank.

where I'm planing to put my tank the gooseneck would be on my 20 gallon tank. I bet I can get a sheet of Plexiglas for my tank at the local hardware store for like 5 to 10 bucks, and it will be faster then ebay, and may not need the clean that the thrift store may need.

but I will check the thrift store first, it only a block if that away from the hardware store.

Plexi glass would work, light diffuser, small piece of glass, etc.

Light diffuser??? a 20 watt on a 10 gallon would give 2 WPG, plus I may lose some because the light may hang over the tanks sides.

Light diffuser (home depot/lowes)...goes in the ceiling to cover fl. bulbs.

yes, through the acrylic/diffuser/glass it will still receive light.
Ex. You still get light in your room through diffuser and you still get light into an aquarium with a glass canopy/cover.

I was just wondering with the defusser part, well I set up my ten gallon most likely Monday if I can find a pump to use with the sponge filter.
