I was considering a snowflake eel only in my 29biocube i wondering if that is big enough. I saw one in the store mabe 6-9inch hes in a very small ball and felt bad and wanted to bring him home but not really sure what he can eat i know how to make hes habitat just wondering what the smaller ones eat.

Echidna nebulosa can get about 36"...a 29g biocube would be too small in that case.

They require lots of well situated rockwork with "openings" throughout it to hide in...if I'd take on one I'd probably drill the rock and place pvc through it to maintain a strong rockwork foundation realizing at 36" he/she could easily dislodge it entrapping it.

Diet would be crustaceans clams, shrimp, smaller fish, etc (has teeth and poor eyesight so use caution when feeding/doing tank maintenance-wouldn't want to loose any fingers).

Minimum tank size for something of that size and knowing you want it to be roomy -- I'd go for 90g-110g (being they both have the same footprint).

ps. came across an article that claims they can live up to 20 years in capativity

waaay back i had one ... they definitely grows too big for a 29g . mine ate chopped shrimp, handfed. back then i didnt know bout live rocks, i had a piece of fake red coral that i carved the inside of so he can live in it.

No it isnt dangerous when the eel is not spooked. I used to hand feed my two, one evening one bit the other one in half(kept chewing on it)
You got to be careful as they rely on scent and if another tank inhaitant gets in the way it could be messy.

29g is way way too small. I felt my 75 was small for two of them.

tong feeding is the best when it comes to most eels.
