I just set up an endler only tank yesterday because I've had a bazillion babies born in the past couple weeks.

I'd say rescue a betta from the "blue cup of death" at wal-mart, then add some neons, male endlers or pygmy cories.

I would do a planted setup on black sand or eco-complete planted and fill it with a colony of cherry shrimp and a nice school of some black neon tetras for contrast.
Or- a school of corydoras are always entertaining with some serpae tetras and a few shrimp ;)

    Re: new 10 gal tank

    What color are they??
Watch to make sure you don't have a mated pair (male/female) on those platys or you'll quickly run out of room as they are very close to the guppies in the fact that most are usually sold already pregnant and that they do breed rather quickly.

Cory's do better in groups (3). Add 2 extra cories to the mix!

what about a few Variatus (thinking you might want to stick with livebearers?)

You could do any of these also (theirs more, but these are the ones I tend to favor):
Tetras (Hi-fin serpae, Pristella, Neon, Cardinal, Lemon, Black Phantom) -->Note that they do much better in groups as they are schooling fish.

    Rasbora (Harlequin, Brilliant)

Moons, Platys obviously, Variatus, SwordTails, Ballon Mollies

    Gold White Clouds

Single Male Dwarf Gourami (Turquiose, Flame)

    Paradisefish (can be aggressive)

    Re: new 10 gal tank

the platys are from my original tank.they are mickey mouse platys, 2 females. they cant have babys as they are the only platys in the tank.. they were babys from the original 3 i had, 2 females to 1 male. my older daughter killed the older ones, leaving me with like 10 babys. so they arent going to have babys. oh i gave all the babys away except to.

so i can put 2 more corycats in the 10 gal?

    Re: new 10 gal tank

As alleycat said, I listed a few others that will be compatible with what you have.
Start with getting 2 cory's to give your lone one company.
Then Choose what you like (list may assist) ---just don't go "crazy" and add like 10 fish to the mix.
If ya give me an idea of which you prefer I can give you a rough number that will help ya with stocking.
Remember a 10 is a tad on the small side, so stock lightly well-knowing stability will be harder than a larger tank (I know you know that already, but I had to put it in there for others who may not).

Corys are super peacefull fish and wont harm anything exept sometimes your gravel :)

I think most fish will be able to.

    New 10g (Stocking/Compatibility Advice Wanted)

With the mollies and cories (yes plural..they should never be alone ;) )

In a 10g, I would only add one small school of either harleys, white clouds or neons.

I'm not much for disagreeing, but will have to respectfully do so with the Gourami and even the Paradise. If these would be the only inhabitants, it would be ok for one. But in a community environment, they should ideally be in at least a 20.

    Just my .02 worth.

Re: New 10g (Stocking/Compatibility Advice Wanted)

Sorry, I defin. have to disagree with ya on this one James.
Since when does a dwarf Gourami & Paradise fish require 20g?
Dwarf Gourami max is about 3.5" at most.
Paradise Fish max is about 4" at most.
1 of either would do fine in a 10g

Re: New 10g (Stocking/Compatibility Advice Wanted)

It's not that they wouldn't work in a 10. If they would be the only occupant of the 10 then yes it would be ok (even though I still wouldn't). But if as a community tank with other species, they shouldn't be considered at this tank size. Again...just my .02.
