Thanks but I would not go that far to say that... MANY better than I :)

I am still learning... This was just an idea I had and I went with it... I actually did not like these mound tanks before... just got sick of the valley style that I have had for years...

Thanks Dawn! Do you really like the "island/mound" style better than the other way I did it before? I thought this would be a cleaner way to keep the tank so food does not decompose in the plants like before and as I said... its different

I plan on making it look like an island but I need to get more play sand out of my 55 which is RIGHT NEXT to the Discus breeders upstairs... because they were in the middle of spawning when I did my maintenance I decided to just wait... (The play sand will look like "water" if you use your imagination, the gravel will look like the beach and the driftwood and plants will look like the trees/plants on the island... boredom :)

yes, I actually do...it looks cleaner in appearance, should definately be easier to vac., and gives the fish more area to "move around" without taking away a place for them to hide in the plants.

Ok... I think this is it... this SHOULD be the final product for a while...

Excuse the cloudy water too, most of us know what adding sand is like

I take that as a HUGE compliment!

BTW... STOP thinking of stealing my tank and fish :) and my tank is bigger than my bathtub... lmao

The "image" I had in my mind on this aquascape was an ISLAND.... so if you use you imagination, the sand is the water, the rocks are the beach and the plants are driftwood are the trees....

OR it could look like an underwater mound... but thats no fun! :)

MAYBE one day I will get rid of my red ones, IF I do I will sell/trade them on this forum first! I PROMISE that! Eventually this tank WILL be a wild only tank a with a few different wild strains I hope... I dont really like the "rainbow tank" which is where you have mixed strains but I do like it for different gene pools... My plan is a WILD rainbow tank though.

More tanks sounds good but honestly my apartment cant hold but MAYBE 1 more.... I cant wait til I buy a house... It is destined to have a shed which I will build or convert to an external fish room!
