Just starting one up. Have a question. How long do I leave my lights on in a day?

Like I said I know little to nothing of the salty side but my guess since this is a new tank it is diatoms. Are you using only the HOB for water circulation? Salt tanks need circulation throughout the entire tank with no dead spots perhaps you need more.

I'll agree with the diatoms and with the circulation. You may want to add another HOB or a canister filter and a powerhead or two to ensure that all of the water is circulating.
