    AFRICAN KNIFEFISH

    Family:Knifefish, Notopteridae
    Characteritics:9 in, female has plumper abdomen.
    Tank/Water:125g, water types 2-5, 79-85F.
    Care:Keep singly or in groups (at least five specimens) in dark, large tanks with many diding places under roots or in bamboo canes. Feed these nocturnal fish highly nutritious live and frozen foods (insects, insect larvae, shrimp), as well as food tablets.
    Habits:Nocturnal predators of insects and shrimp occuring in various habitats in West and Central Africa.
    Compatibility:With larger West African fish: bichirs, butterflyfish, characins. Small fish will be eaten.
