    AFRICAN RED-EYED CHARACIN
    Also: African red-eyed tetra, big-scaled African characin

    Family:African Tetras, Alestiidae
    Characteristics:3 in, male has more colorful anal fin.
    Tank/Water:62.5g, water types 2-4, 76-83F.
    Care:Keep at least six specimens in tanks with plenty of open swimming space, otherwise sparsely furnished. Water movement. Omnivore (prefers mosquito larvae, insects).
    Habits:Lively schooling fish found in open water in streams and small rivers of the Niger Delta in Nigeria.
    Compatibility:West African cichlids (such as Pelvicachromis species), naked catfish (Synodontis species), swallowtail glass catfish (Pareutropius species).
