haha lol when i got my 10 gall out of the garage i there were two more 10 gallons, wish i could have used those throught the house, my parents would kill me if i were to set up another tank. And i could put my betta in a 10 gal by himself but i don't think that my dresser, which his 5 gal is on, could hold 10 gallons worth of water, it already has a broken beam on one of the bottom shelves

thank :D i'm considering putting a small school of about 6 in my 10 gallon tank and take 2 of the big plants out, but i'm worried that there won't be enough room, i only have 3 fish in theref

smaller tanks imo are harder to keep stable. Knowing what you have in there and figuring your want that one to be more of the natural look I'd suggest some easy low light plants so that no CO2 or dosing would be truly needed, also keep in mind your fish might munch at them.

Here's a quick list of ones that should be do fine without co2 or dosing and are under low light (note most will grow much slower without co2 or dosing):
    A. barteri nana
    Anubias
    Java Fern
    Java Moss, Christmas Moss
    Hornwort
    Giant Salvinia

As for tank mates if your looking for a small school of something to add to the mix try something like one of these (assuming you have good filtration and a heater):
1)school of Neon tetras--most average just under 2 inches as adults
2)school of Rasboras (Harlequin has nice color)--most average under 2 inches as adults
    3)small school 2-3 Corydoras Catfish--average 2-3 inches as adult

Thanks for all of your great info dawn :D but i think i'll keep my stuff plastic as i won't have the time/money to properly care for real plants.

But i do like the look of the Rasboras, i don't think petsmart or petco have those, but if they do, i'll get a small school, and if they don't have those, i'll pick between the neons and corydoras catfish

If they're full grown sure. I'd give it some time to see if they grow any before judging which are males and females.

kk, cause i know the one in the last pic is the biggest, most active, and darkest colored out of everyone else in the tank, and that goes with all of the ones at petsmart as well. and everybody else is the same size and color as the one in the 2nd pic

Assuming they're all the same age you could be correct. :D
