After a recent water change, I was extremely excited to find a baby oto in one my tanks. I can only hope that during the wc, I didn't take any possible others. My other fear is that after the wc, the water parameters would change too much for him to survive. So far...all is good.

So...I'm going to try and document his life story....as it unfolds of course.

First .... here's mom and dad:

Here's a couple of shots two days after discovery:

Here you can see the eyes much better:

I'll try and keep this thread updated to chart his/her progress. Crosses fingers that all turns out well.

Sry NoThing29...no secret that I know of. I've had otos for years and years and this is the first fry. Maybe I should keep a journal of the tank conditions as well. Might be some clue. I can say that the tank they are in is by far and beyond my best performing tank. My yellow shrimp are breeding, plants are going nuts...and now my oto fry. I guess next will be the brigss snails. ;o)

    Fin Development

Last pic for now...ran the camera battery dead. I was trying to get a pic of the fin development. This is the best I could do for the moment.

i agree with guidoman... there must be at least 6-7 of them... maybe they were eaten by others?

He's the only one I have spotted for now. Been looking. There's nothing in the tank that would eat them.

Day three and all is well. Little guy is at the front of the tank today. Still no sign of siblings.

I would use a pile from now on and check the water with a very bright flashlight, that what I do to make sure I didn't get any guppies.

Here's where I currently live. If you look closely, you'll see my dad hanging out up front. To the right is one of the yellows we share our home with.

when did you trim back that tank, was it recent enough that you might have given away baby oto's in the cuttings?
