All the other Angels look good, he never looked normal and wasn't as active as the others. I just returned him and got credit and used it toward a few supplies.

The 4 I have are really active. They swim from one side to the other, from the top to the bottom and back again. :)

This tank is driving me crazy. It won't clear up completely. It's constantly got a slight haze to it. I've tried clarity, water changes etc. I'm only adding Excel to the tank every morning, and some food twice a day (small amounts of course). I can't figure out what's causing it. Any ideas ?

Umm..whats your readings and water temp.
Hot water can cause a haze>>>the food can do it too
Near sunlight..I didn't deal with haze...I had the murky like algae water and the uv cleared that right up if you remember from the picts.

Can you borrow a diatom filter and see if that will do the trick?

What readings would you like ? I'll test them now.

The temp is only about 80, it's not near any windows, it's not from algae as far as I can tell.

I don't know anyone with a diatom filter.

I know you said it was cycled...did you retest to make sure you aren't going through a mini cycle?

    What about light sources (windows)?

I'm thinking it may just be a bacterial bloom possibly caused by a light source or mini-cycle.

That's what I thought too but it's in the bedroom and there are only two windows in the room on the other side. The windows have blinds and curtains, both closed. It's pretty dark in the room except for the aquarium light.

I'll test everything now and let you know what it says. I can't test nitrites though, my step 2 liquid ran out.

okay, if anything I'd try some de*nitrate...stuff worked like a charm when I had water issues despite doing partials and what not.
Plus it's rechargeable which made it really nice (I tossed it in Seachem's the bag)...you might remember from my photos?

Yeah. BRB, I'm going to test now and I'll let you know what I come up with.

It's ammonia I can't test for, not nitrite.

    pH 6.5
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 10

wow, I thought your nitrates might have been high (like the issue I had a while back)...you've really got me now.

Is the food flake/pellet. Could it be the food? (maybe try frozen for 2 days or so)

Do you have purigen in there (could try that too)?

Truly amazed the clarity isn't doing it (clearing water).

Only other suggestions would be to put some tetra safe start in there for added bb, change the media in the filter (meaning carbon), and I wouldn't do anything with the water (meaning no large water change) due to small angels being sensitive.

My filter pad is clean. It contains charcoal even though I'd rather it didn't. There's no room in the filter for Purigen or I would have had that in already.

Hmm...Can you float the purigen in the tank? Maybe tie it to the intake like I did with my de*nitrate that time.

How long has it been hazy and is it getting any worse that you notice?
    Fish are fine right?

Yeah, I can try to do that. I'm just not sure how effective it would be without water actually flowing through it.

Basically since I added the Eco Complete. It's not getting any worse it's just staying the same.

    Yep, fish are perfectly fine.
