    BANDED RAINBOWFISH

    Family:Rainbowfish, Melanotaeniidae.
    Characteristics:4.3-6 in. (varies by population), male more colorful.
    Tank/Water:150g, water types 4-6, 76-83F.
    Care:Schooling fish for large tanks with loose plantings along the sides and lots of open swimming space. Small to medium sized live and dry foods (such as water fleas).
    Habits:The populations, which vary in appearnace, are native to rain forest and savannah rivers in Australia.
    Compatibility:Good with all fish that are not overly small and have similiar water requirements, also with Lake Tanganyikan cichlids, for example.
