Ryan, have you tried dosing the whole tank and not just doing "spot treatments" ?

no, I am afraid of dosing the whole tank... plus for the 125 it would take a whole large bottle! :)

Why are you scared to dose the whole tank ?

Everything I read said 1-3ml per gallon. That's why I started with 1ml and left it for a bit to see if it stressed the fish or anything.

I may try... lord knows I dont REALLY want to aquascape around it... like I said, fuzzy driftwood, my carpeted sand

Not what I visioned.... I still want something after I treat no matter what I treat with (peroxide, copper) to keep it under control.... I am still leaning to the Red Cherrys.... Just to make sure it dont come back!

I would definitely try treating the whole tank with peroxide before attempting copper.

    Re: Amano Shrimp

It would be easier! Also cheaper.... saves the moves... I still feel that the Red Cherry Shrimp will live in the tank... I know the Discus are rather agressive and may see them as live food but if they are big enough the Discus cannot get them in their mouths... I mean, full grown a Discus has just a bit larger mouth than a Tetra!

The babies may be at risk but hey, only the strong survive! The Siamese Algae Eaters are large, active and would stress the Discus... plus as noted they may not acclimate... Maybe the shrimp will though

    Re: Amano Shrimp

hmmm that may be too small... I was thinking of putting them in with the Endlers too.. so that would be my "backup crew" Maybe If I did go that route I can put them up there and move them to the 125 when large enough...

Yep you could do that. I'm not sure how fast they grow though.

Well.... in the mean time I just dosed the tank with 400-500mL of peroxide (about half of a 925mL bottle)..... we will see.....

    Re: Amano Shrimp

yup.... I dont see stress... I used the syringe and hit the plants that have it the worse... then tipping the bottle some poured in and I just said screw it and poured it all in, put water in the empty bottle, swished it around and dumped it back out with a big grin on my face!

what's that sound your discs' are making.....crunch and munch baby! :)

Little reds are gonna be toast and shredded. Ok...enough of doom and gloom.

Not many ship adult shrimp due to travel and reacclimation. Juvies handle the shipping much better.

    Re: Amano Shrimp

Lemon...I did do some searching for you. I have seen quite a few discus owners have SAEs with them as well. None of the posts though stated what the temps were.

    Re: Amano Shrimp

Like I said earlier... I could put them with the endlers and wait til they are big enough... then transfer to the show tank... but leave a few with the endlers to breed! That is more of a neutral environment too... that tank is at PH 7 and about 78 degrees
