Finally got around to getting a few decent shots of the new Swordtails. Currently the tank has both Blue "Blue" and Blue "Orange" Pearls. Because this strain is so new the fish do not breed true 100% of the time resulting in the Blue "Orange" Pearls, which by the way are being auction off on AquaBid because I only want to keep the Blue "Blues". I have grown to like the bright color of these guys though. Right now there are 10 Blue "Orange" (1 male and 9 females), and 6 Blue "Blue" (1 male and 5 females (one adult female)). I've got more plants coming tomorrow for the fry to hide in so after I get those into the tank I'll post some full tank shots. For now, here are some pictures of the fish.

I think it's funny that the males have lipstick. :)

The orange are pretty, but the "blues" look almost like mosquito fish or female endlers aside from the slight darkening on the mouth and fins.

Yeah, they're actually a bit bluer in person. I think the flash on the camera I was using was washing them out. This isn't my picture but this is the father to the juveniles I have. The two pictures of the Blues with color on their tails and lips is my young male, the second picture from the top is of the adult female.

Here's an updated tank shot after adding the 4 new Blue "Blues" and more of the ground cover plants. It looks a bit crowded but I'm hoping that if the female drops any fry before they get moved to their larger tank the plants will offer enough protection so I'll have some survivors.

I like it! Looks good considering its fake plants. I'd finish off the ground cover and have it completely filled in :)

Now that would just look silly. LoL j/k This is only a temp tank for them. Once we move they're getting the 30 long with real plants. This will then be the growout tank.

    sounds like a great idea!

They'll be lost in the 30, but loving it! And don't forget the driftwood to go with the live plants (nag).

I'm also going to try that Seachem Livebearer Salt with them and the plants, since they claim it's plant safe.

And yes Dawn, there will be driftwood. Lmao

Sounds good. If I get the AT&T job I want I'll have to go to Richmond for a couple weeks for training. Fun *sarcasm*.

Not if! When you get the job! Positive thinking always helps. It's around 18" long and 10" high. Nice piece of driftwood just no room for it. Was in tank for 6 month and stayed on bottom after 7 weeks on it's own.

i like your vids, they're relaxing.

As a tip, get some potamogeton gayi for the fry- I tore apart my 10 gallon, and still missed 8 fry that were hiding in it. It's like Narnia.

Anthony: The fish and the tank are gorgeous! :D Bet it'll be even better with the real plants :)

MB: I think guppies and swordtails have the same preferences when it comes to water, yes! If I remember right... I'm not that crazy about live bearers even though I've kept pretty many of them in my days :'D

    Thanks everyone.

Yes, the Swordtails can be kept in the same water. I've got mine the exact same as the Endler's, which is a pH of about 6.5ish but they will adapt to a wide range.
