Can a couple of cichlids go in a 20 gal tank?

    Even with the items in your tank, I think you'd be adding way too many fish.

    hmmm how do you think i should narrow it down? i deffientley want an assortment of fish, that's my main thing

    none of those fish really use hides from my experience

    Right uncwnells, they don't.

    I'd do 2 Dwarf Gourami's MAX with a few cardinal tetras.

    Give them ample swimming space, esp if your going to pack all those fish in there, leave out the large hides that break the tank up, throw a dwarf sword in the middle or soemthing like that.

    Herotilapia multispinosa or commonly called Rainbow cichlid are very nice and colorful. They stay small 3.5'' range and are peaceful enough to be placed in a community tank even. There is also a orange variant of this cichlid but both are very nice. Unlike the ram they are very hardy and would be easy to handle.
