    CAPE LOPEZ LYRETAIL

Origins:West Africa, found in parts of Gabon, Cameroon, and Zaire.
    Size:2 & 1/2 in.
    Diet:Livefoods and prepared diets.
    Water:Temperature 64-75F; soft (50-100 mg/l) and acidic (pH 6.0-6.5).
    Temperament:Peaceful and social.

Male Common Lyretails are much more brightly colored thank females, and have pronounced caudal-fin rays that give the tail a lyrelike shape. They need slightly brackish environment and a densely planted tank. They are usually kept in a single species setup, partly because their small size limits thechoice of tankmates, but also so they do not hybridize with other killifish. Lyretails tend to live for about three years- longer than most types of killifish.
