co2 and fertilizer questions

    im getting a 20 long tank with 1 amazon sword, java fern etc simple plants and some tetras and i was wondering do i absolutely need a co2 system ? will the plants die if there is no co2 system ?

    No you shouldn't need it.

    are you sure cause i went to the store and asked and there like oohhhh yea i totaly need it for the plants to grow and live longer .... but can you just go with some fertilizers and chemicals ?

    Of course they said that, they want you to buy it.

    Whether or not you need Co2 depends on your lighting and the plants you're growing.

    im getting a t5 with 2 10,000 watt bulbs one is a white bulb and the other one has a pink tint to it apparently there the very good ? do u know what im talking about > lol have any suggestions
    just want to keep it simple amazon sword ferns moss veils cryps

    I agree they will tell you anything to get you to buy something. I have 5 or 6 tanks with plants, a few of them HEAVILY planted, and I run no CO2. Yours will be fine without it. They are 10,000 K not watts, do you know the wattage?

    ohh yea k thats right my bad LMFAO :p umm not tooo sure :$ what kind of fertilizers do u suggest or additives ?

    This is for a 20 gallon tank right ?

    The bulbs for that should be 24 watts.

    Root tabs for the sword and maybe some flourish for the others, BTW what are the other "simple plants"?

    Yep. You will need root tabs for the swords.

    ohh just ferns moss crypes viens easy to keeep plants since this will be my first planted tank

    They too are root feeders and will need root tabs, the crypts will benefit as well but they are not totally necessary for the crypts. Don't go wild with ferts at first you can cause bad algae problems for yourself.

    Flourish Excel and Flourish Root Tabs would be all I'd suggest. That's what I use.
