It is nice to have a chart like this on the board.... and actually I like this one as most charts say that Discus and Angelfish are incompatible... but that chart is accurate to say that CAUTION is advised!

Nice to see a chart that is honest and not fully ignorant! lol

agreed, too many suggest incompatible species and then novices go out and toss them in a tank and wonder what THEY did wrong.

Here's my two favorites. I don't care for the charts much. A bit evasive.

I guess we couldn't incorporate the slider (allows you to go across easier)

Howdy,
I looked for this info, but didn't see it.
Got a 55 at school, with fancy goldfish, a few plants, and a bit of wood. I have a friend with a big pleco who needs a home (the fish, not the friend).
Would he do okay in there? I can add more wood for him.

might uproot your plants, but should depending on the species (ie. common)

I haven't seen this guy, but I'm assuming he's just one of the common brown pl*cs. About 7 inches now, from what I was told, and he's in a 29g and needs more space.
I'm sure the goldfish would appreciate help in digging up the plants. :)

Lol, I'd take him (if you got goldfish already I'm sure you can handle the extra waste the plecos produce).

yay, pretty much means if I get a very mellow non aggresive male betta Ican keep him with my platies after the tank's ready, man I hate waiting on a fishless cycle

that chart isn't perfect mind you, compare it with http://www.aqadvisor.com/ (which is defin. quickly growing on me)!

ps. great work yhbae (love that your constantly updating the data base and such) [icon_exclaim.gif]

Platys will nip at your betta! Believe me I've tried. I have 8 females in a 55 gal Soroity tank. with neons, redskirt tetras (I'm watching them closely they are known nippers), Cories (Julian) and SAE (Simease algae eaters)

that's what I tried telling them already, they're incompatible...but I guess they are still gonna try because the chart?

All I can say is watch very closely and have somewhere the platy's can be transferred once/should nipping occur if you're that determined.

ps. we need current photos ursi. Lol!

a trick I have when keeping bettas is dividers, the platies wouldn't be able to get at him hmm...maybe I should put that in my sig that I always use deviders when keeping more than a singal betta at a time, heck there's even a book standing between my betta's now even though one all of them have lids and two only the red one is aggressive

Lids are a must for bettas. I've found quite a few on the floor when I was breeding them many years ago. Pics will come haven't had the camera out in a while.
