An oscar and a fire eel will be fine together for life. Oscars are not aggressive. Oscars only eat what they can fit in their mouth, if it cant fit they dont bother it. As for the clown knife, no a 120 gallon tank does not even come close to being able to house that figh, its full potential is 40 inches not 23 inches. Sounds like your friend who is an aqaurium specialist is actually just another employee at a petstore that doesnt know anything.

people at the petstores from my experience usually dont know what they are talking about, especially places like, petco, petsmart or walmart, ive even been to family owned petstores and they'll just tell you something to get you to buy it, the one sold my friend a needle nose gar with community fish and said theyd be ok in a 30gallon tank, lol, they always have fish mis-labled and if you ask a question can usually tell they dont know the right answer. i made the mistake of buying a red-devil from petsmart cuz the dumb employee told me they can live with large south american cichlids, now i will eventually have to seperate him because of aggresiveness. now from my mistakes i have learned to DO RESEARCH on the fish BEFORE YOU BUY THEM!!
