    Wow man.... bad day I see! That kind of makes me scared to try a SW tank later.... SW makes the Discus seem simple :confused:

    Nope not even that. I have thought about it since it happened and I cannot think of one single thing it possibly could have been.

    Are you sure they all aren't pranking you? Maybe you spooked them and their paying you back by spooking you?
    Your definitely gonna have to let us know what that guy tells you, because now I am really curious as to what the problem is/was!

    stories like this keep me from taking the saltwater dive. (though I really really would like to) Freshwater chemistry and equipment is challenging/expensive enough for me.

    Sorry to hear that just the other day I lost about 200 dollars worth of fish i lost my hawk fish my royal grandma and my flame angel plus lost some green gobbies was thinkining if the others die thats it tradining for fresh sorry for the loss

    Do you run a skimmer (just confirming there's sufficient O2 exchange - as has been said early rapid breathing is definitely a sign of stress, but there's so many things that can stress them!)

    I'm assuming ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, salinity are all within spec and that your ph and temperature aren't swinging between day and night? Has any other notable growth started in the tank? I'm sure you know to look at all these, just mentioning in case something slipped your mind. Plus - if your corals are doing fine your probably not having a parameter far out since you already know they are much less tolerant then the fish.

    Have you tried testing your water with a multimeter to make sure a pump, heater, etc didn't go bad and start leaking electricity into the tank?

    I have a skimmer plus I have tested so I also had my fish dealer test plus we did a 40% water change all the rest are doing just fine so ???? just like anthony just a mystery I call it a mass fish suicide lol

    Sorry for your losses Anthony, I know from experience (not of my own power) that it blows to lose so many at one time. How long has the tank been up and running. Like the pics of the ongoing tank. :)

    Yes, I have a skimmer. There is never any film on the surface of the water and there is good flow and surface movement to aid in oxygen exchange. Yes, all water parameters were perfect. I didn't test the water to see if anything was leaking electricity until I just read this, it was normal.

    Nope, I don't think it went out and even if it did I have a battery backup on the tank so everything keeps running.

    I'll tell you this, I was highly upset when I had to convert...but now I have to admit it's nice with having less things to worry about & knowing I don't really have to watch it daily. With the saltwater I was doing daily tests and Oh soo Much more when it came to mainten. (waiting for ro/di system to make water, mixing salt, checking salinity, blah blah blah).

    Well, it it is what you want to do....

    These stories are what make me think twice about a marine tank. I really want to do it though, but I cant afford a loss like this. My Discus do enough scares for me. :confused:
