Anthony, I decided to browse over the salt section today and am just now finding out about your losses! I hope that you dont give up and that you figure out what went wrong.

Depending on what happens to the clownfish determines what I do next. If he dies then I'm going to have to move away from saltwater for a bit.

With not knowing what's going on in the tank I'm very hesitant to add anything else in there.

And that is understood. How is the clown doing today?

Well, he's not swimming around the tank like crazy this morning. I put a little MelaFix in the tank to try and calm him down last night but it didn't seem to. I'm getting ready to put some food in the tank since the Watchman Goby came out of his hole looking for food.

Clownfish didn't eat and didn't even seem interested in the food. I tried putting some Garlic XTreme in the tank yesterday and that didn't do anything for him.

Crap, that cant be good! You try live food? I dont know if clowns eat anything live but if they do, that could get it going?

No and the LFS doesn't sell anything live, food wise. I've tried every food I have that I would feed them on a weekly basis. He's not interested in anything.

Find another LFS that does sell live food. There have to be some out there.

The three around here don't. I'm limited to Pet Forum, Pet Supplies Plus and PetSmart. Other than that everything is pretty far away.

If the clown is still around when you come down to Richmond there are 2 here by my house that have live food.

    Do clowns eat blackworms?

Oh ya know what. I have brine shrimp eggs. I'll hatch some of those.

I was going to suggest that too! Brine shrimp will at least last more than 1 minute in a salt tank :)

    Re: Extremely Frustrated !

Anthony, may I make a suggestion? Try flooding the tank with oxygen for about ten minutes, then watch the clown after twenty minutes, if he goes back to acting normal, I would say it was a chemical reaction by something added to the tank. When I first added fishes back to the tank that crashed(probably should have waited another week to cycle, but we all have that extra patience required for saltwater tanks) I needed to do this, they all seemed to have had labored breathing, and minute color loss, since the oxygen flush, they are all doing quite well.

Just a suggestion, don't shoot me.

No change in the Clownfish's behavior.

Hmmmm, sorry too hear. Did this happen after adding anything new?? If so, I'd go back to a chem reaction. You definately don't have mother nature working on your good side right now. :( good luck though, I hope you decide to stay with us on the wildside of the ultimate saltwater adventure.

    Re: Extremely Frustrated !

If it's any consolation, after going nearly a year without any fish loss we had a mandarin ($40 @ fishworld) jump into our overflow xmas eve, found half his body hanging out a pump intake in the sump... and on new years, 2 days after we added a hybrid nox ($80 @ fishworld) it died for no obvious reasons and an hour later our 8" blonde naso tang ($180 @ richmond aquarium) had a blockage and passed as well. From going almost a year without fish loss to knocking out $300 in fish over 4 days had me debating to tear the tank down for nearly a week. Honestly though, I agree with the other responses... as much as it sucks when fish or corals are lost, the cost of lost fish compared to cost of everything else puts it in perspective.

I hope when it's running right, it brings you enough joy to make it worth putting up with the down swings.
