Extremely Frustrated! Woke up to dead fish!?!

    :) I know... that is what I was running with when I said that :)

    You said you had 2 clowns right? Were they both the same strain and did you know the sex of each? Maybe they were a pair.... maybe they were working on spawning? That would stress out the tank! Just a guess

    Yep, two True Percula Clownfish. Clownfish change sex according to their size/position in a group. I deliberately purchased a small one and a larger one so they would pair off. The male would "shimmy" around the female at times but they've done this for months now. They weren't large enough to actually spawn and other than the occasional shimmy the female had no interest in spawning with him.

    There is still a chance that behavior could have stressed the other fish, in turn stressing the clowns as they would be sensing the stress..... Vicious cycle of stress :)

    That is why as humans we should live stress-free lives :) You can see what it does to fish, it has to do that to us too!!!

    Well it would stress you out if it were happening in your house without you (while you were there). Then you would be stressing them out :)

    Okay guys. I know everyone wanted me to keep going with my tank, I did too but was, at the title says, extremely frustrated. There was a glimmer of hope until this morning. The remaining two fish died, from what I can tell, several snails and hermit crabs as well I assume from the ammonia spike during the night. The only two things that look mostly normal are the anemone and one star polyp colony. I really think it's time to cut my losses and clean out the tank.

    Yeah, I don't either. :confused: *Sigh* I think after a while passes I'll get a 90 gallon tank and just do a fish only setup. That way if anything goes wrong I'm able to directly treat the tank.

    Still, the reef setting is SO NICE compared to the fish only tank.... exponential harder though I would imagine!
