    HALFBEAKS

    General:
The halfbeak species of importance to aquarium hobbyists (some 150 species in all) almost always live near the surface in streams, coastal waters, and lakes in Southeast Asia.
There they consume insects that fall onto the water surface.
Occasionally they males become very aggressive with each other.
Most species are live-bearing and give birth to a small number of young.
