Hi guys, I bought this fish and have no idea what it is or anything about it.
All I know is that it is a Cichlid.
And in the 55 gallon tank with it I have 3 Electric blues, a Leporinus, a Pleco and an algae eater...
if Anyone can help me figure this out... please email me.
I need any info on it and the name.
I am attaching the photo... hopefully you guys can see it.

I hope that worked.. if not here is the actual link to the photo.

thanks for any help you guys can give me.

You said you thought they told you it started with a "C". They didn't tell you it was a convict, correct ?

hmn... I know the name starts with a C...and he did say it was south american and would get along with my electric blue jacks...but the thing is - is that no one that I know knows what the thing is...lol
and he has a great personality... he just grows REALLY FAST! and is rather large and another thing i remember the guy telling me is that he will have a head like a flowerhorn...but thats about it.
so im not sure its a texas...but thanks for helping me figure this out. You may be right.. i have no idea.

    Nope not a convict...
he had convicts there but I didn't like them so he said to try this one..
that it was more docile and would get along with my blues.

Okay, I know it's not a convict. That was the first thing that popped into my head when you said "started with a c" and I wanted to make sure they didn't tell you that.

eh... yeah im reading about how nasty and agressive they are...great.
hopefully he wont decide the other fish are nice food treats ... ive had him since he was a baby and he pretty much lets everyone know where his space is but he doesnt really attack them unless they go into his territory...

I doubt it's (Cichlasoma octofasciatum). BeanSidhe said there were 3 electric blue jack dempseys in there already so it may be something different.

If you google (Herichthys carpinte) you find this image

Which, from what I can see looks similar to it but it's hard to tell from one head on picture.

I'd just call the LFS or go up there and ask the person who sold it. Because it could be any of the fish listed in this thread really
