help setting up saltwater tank

    It's probably a standard florescent bulb. You're going to have to buy a whole new lighting setup.

    what you have are flourecent bulbs...it's ok to have flourecents with a fish only sw tank but if your planning to buy those expensive corals you have to upgrade......it's better to protect your investment than to lose it.

    a refugium is a part of your sump or just a tank that you setup to hold a sand bed and types of algea that will help to lower phosphates and nitrates....it's also a place where your copepods where multiply and live until they eventually end up in your main display.......

    it look to same as a sump., but with a few things in there. right. ok wat do i need to add to my tank then.

    here's a picture of my sump / refugium......


    the 1st part is filled with live rock....the middle has sand and macro algea which makes up the refuge and the 3rd part is where my return pump is....

    yea. i got the whole light kit from a guy locally for $100. it so bright and blue now. i dont know the name of it but it have one side blue and one side white. it 4 bulb and 2 ballast. i also got the 2 fan for free. i'll up load some picture in a bit.

    Not for months. Your tank has to be completely cycled and fully established.

    yep....take your time with it....it's the best thing you can do for a reef tank.

    how do i know it finish cycle. the water smell a little too when i open the top. is that part of the cycle. when do i change the water and test the water?
