how do I setup an airstone?

    You can get 1 big one and spit the line to each area.... They make splitters that you can turn each separate line off and on.

    Here is what you need
    Air pump

    Anti Backflow Check Valve - <a class="postlink" href="http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3669+10109&pcatid=10109" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... atid=10109</a>
    And of course airline tubing

    It goes like this... Air pump => Check valve => Gang Valve => Airstone(s)

    why not buy 1 powerhouse of an aerator and then some t's/splitters enabling you to run airstones to various tanks?

    (that's what I did in the past)

    Thats where I was going but the "Gang Valve" is a much better way than t's and splitters as you can control the air to each location (thats how I do it) :D

    Yup, gang valves work too (have one laying around here somewhere from an old setup).

    use airline adapters to extend the airline if you don't have enough footage (unless we are talking floors apart..then only option is to drill tiny hole through floor and run it that way).

    Or just buy a few pumps :)

    They really are not THAT expensive

    Be SURE to get a check valve for EACH setup you have... it protects your pump from siphoning the water back into the pump

    I like the idea of 1 monsterous one and drilling the floors (but again, I like power tools and things that look like they are complicated...airline running everywhere through home-priceless). Lol!

    :) some of us live in other peoples homes and cant drill a house/apartment apart! :)

    Like mentioned WHEN I get my own home I have PLANS! :) Auto-WC system! no more water changes!!!!

    The first one is a powerhead that only pumps water. There are filters that you can get to fit on the intake. The little tube is air intake. The other is a in the tank filter. If you want bubbles get andair pump.

    i must have missed a few posts somewhere, i thought you were wanting to add an air line to the powerhead, that's why i asked if you had the air adapter kit for you pump.
