how do you trim java moss

    how do you trim java moss
    I think it is java moss. but i dot know how to trim it. any one know. it has taken over my little 5 gallon tank. let me know so i dont kill it. lol

    Java Moss (hairy type plant) you can just cut it. It wont kill it.

    ok. its stringy. but i dunno. i was told it was java moss.

    Yeah, stringy - hairy, same thing :)

    You should be able to just clip it to what you want it to look like. There are no roots really or anything so, and it is a VERY hardy plant.

    ill prolly toss it. i still havnt gotten the other tank out of my car to put it in my house. im waiting till i move too.

    when i was prego with my first baby, i moved 8 times in one month!!

    WOW!!! too much moving! My wife and I have moved like 2 times and I have moved about 4 in my life.

    dang I have moved once, I have help my brother move thought. it doesn't seem fun.

    No and moving with over 200 gallons of fish tanks is not fun either (though I have not done it yet but should be doing it later this year)

    well it was ok because i was prego and got to stand and look pretty. lol. didnt have to do anything. but i didn do a little, like um.. put some stuff in boxes

    dang, that might be the case when I move out. I have 50 gallons worth of fish tanks, but only one of my 20 gallons are set up, I'm going to set my 10 gallon up for fry soon thought.

    I never moved in my 14 years on this planet,, One time close though but noone wanted our house :)
    And you got a newe tank (didnt notice) How big is it :)?

    welli have had it for a while. i just cant get it out of my car. it is a 30 gal long.

    Java moss is really resiliant (sp)...as lemon said you can cut it with no issues.
    I currently have some growing in the tank that's sandwiched between those plastic craft sheets with the tiny squares that you can get at Wal-mart. I can't remember what they are actually supposed to be for?
    But I sandwiched it and zip tied it along the edges and got some of the suction cups that Wal-mart has in the craft section (tiny ones with a metal hook) and hung it towards the surface of the tank.
    I'm at the month point and it it coming out of the tiny squares quite nicely!
    Down the road my intention is to make a moss wall out of them.

    yep. plus no where to put it right not. there is a 30 gal tall in my kitchen full of the stuff that goes with it. needs to be clean but i cant move it.

    I would not throw it out either! Java Moss is not exactly a cheap plant (not expensive either) but I know around here it is hard to find in stores.
