I'd remove the pleco. The others should be okay but if you notice any signs of stress you need to do a 50% water change right then to remove most of the salt.

    Re: Ick or not?

My pleco is about a foot long. I dont have any other tanks big enough to move him to.... The other tank has been setup for a while and is currently empty. Would I be better to take my chances with that one? I would rather lose the mollies that i've only had a month than the pleco that i've had for 7 years...

A tank running without fish is not cycled.

    Re: Ick or not?

I've had fish in it. There was a beta in there for over a year. I had some neons in there too but the beta was chasing them so I moved them to the bigger tank. The beta just died and I haven't put anything else in there since. I was planning on testing the water soon and adding more fish...

    Re: Ick or not?

If the tank has been fishless for a week or more most if not all of the Beneficial Bacteria in the tank is dead, therefor the tank isn't cycled. Also, if you had fish die in the tank, it should be emptied and cleaned really well before using it again.

    Re: Ick or not?

Yeah, thats the plan. It does need to be cleaned. I'm not sure what else to do. None of my other fish are showing any signs of anything. Just these two mollies... Is there anything else that I can treat with that wont hurt the other fish?

I'm not a pleco person so I'm not sure. Others on here keep or have kept them so they may know once they come around.

    Re: Ick or not?

cool... The pimafix did help though. I have a female swordtail that had a white ring around her tail. I didnt think anything of it but when I started treating the tank the white ring went away... Thanks for the advice!!!

Until we figure out what to do next you can continue treating with the PimaFix.

    Re: Ick or not?

Ok.... Saturday is supposed to be the last day. The directions say to continue treatment if the fungus isn't gone so I will continue to treat until we come up with something else.

Okay, don't forget to do a water change after 7 days then treat for another 7.

    Re: Ick or not?

My tiger barbs were nipping at the female. Took one of her eyes. I have moved her to the other tank. She's got a better chance in there than in the one she was in. Sould I continue with the same treatment now that she is out? Pimafix for another 7 days?

    Re: Ick or not?

You'll want to add MelaFix to that now also to prevent bacterial infections.

    Re: Ick or not?

I'll pick some of that up tonight. Alternate them or use both at the same time? I lost the fish. Its not even the fish I was treating...

    Re: Ick or not?

So I lost that Molly today. The tiger barbs did a number on her. I went ahead and bought some aquarium salt like you said earlier. Should I start using that now? If so, should I do a water change first?

If there are more fish showing signs, yes.
