I just got home and one of my neon tetras isn't acting like its self.... In the back, where it has red coloring, the red became duller and it's body look bloated. Is it sick?

Thanks,
Tetra And Barb Fan :D

You absolutely must have at the very least a pH ammonia nitrite and nitrate test kit

I would recommend a good 40% water change with water of the same temperature. Your tank is not cycled and it's likely the cause of bad water quality. The bloating may be a sign of constipation. What are you feeding them and how often ?

agree that it's not cycled. Tetramin is a descent food so I doubt the issue lies with that. Do the water change and you could have used something such as http://www.aquariumplants.com/product_p/biosp02.htm

Not the saltwater version though. :)

Also are you adding dechlorinator to the water before you put it in your tank ?

Unless you plan on going to the pet store every day you need to buy the test kit to test the water parameters listed above.

You're probably overfeeding the fish. Only feed them once a day and only enough so that it's completely gone within 30 seconds. I would skip a day or two and not feed them anything.

Tiger Barbs can be pretty aggressive and they also require a 30 gallon tank.

Neons are also schooling fish and you should have more than 2 of them. I would suggest taking the Tiger Barbs back and exchanging them for a few more neons.
