I have an opportunity to pick up a breeding pair of Lamprologus calvus, I currently have mostly Malawi cichlids, but i am putting together a 125 gallon tank and was wondering if the pair would be ok with the malawi cichlids, i know they are more agressive and all, but a friend of mine has a single calvus in his malawi tank it it seems to hold its own. Im going to be getting the pair for 20 bucks so i dont want to pass it up.
    thanks

Putting a breeding pair in a tank full of Malawi Cichlids would be pointless. IF they did spawn nothing would come of it because the other fish would very likely eat the eggs.

Calvus' are very slow growers as well. I wouldn't mix these guys with anything other than Lake Tanganyika cichlids.

I have a single calvus in my African filled mostly with malawis he does ok.

and for that price you could set up another tank for only them and still be ahead at the end of the day!
