I want to do a large cichlid tank as the title states, I am not very familiar with the larger fish species as they are not offered locally and I have never had a tank big enough to support them so I never found the need to read up on them, my laziness is your chance to show off your knowledge of the larger breeds of cichlid, I am talking bout the big boys 8"+. So far I have really fallen in love with Burundi Frontosa. I want to eventually breed the fish and rear the fry to selling online and locally, so if we are talking about multiple species they must get along etc.

An 8' tank would be really nice for a small colony of fronts.

I think a 6' tank would work for maybe a trio but an 8' is recommended from what I remember reading about them.

Where can you get the big terra cotta pipes, or other good large cichlid hides?

I will graciously accept anything! Do you have any old biowheel filter you dont use anymore that you would let go for cheap? I need a small one to replace one thats probably going to die soon.

if i was you i'd stick to african cichlids and stay away from south american cichlids because they are way more aggressive. also i have a flowerhorn/black convict hybrid i want to get rid off for a cheap price if anyone is interested.
