    Leopard Danio

Origins:Asia, probably a domestic variant, although its precise origins are not documented.
    Size: 2 & 1/2"
    Diet:Flake and livefoods.
    Water:Temperature 72-75F;soft (50 mg/l) and acidic to neutral (pH 6.0-6.5).
    Temperament:Lively, shoaling fish.

First described in 1953, the Leopard was initially thought to be a species of its own right, but recent genetic studies have revealed that it is a variant of the Zebra Danio. The Leopard can be identified by its predominantly spotted rather than lined body pattern, with the lines being more obvious and close to its caudal fin. Its care and breeding requirements are identical to those of the Zebra. A long-finned form of the Leopard Danio has also been bred.
