Yeah, the plants have had a hard time lately. I put a chemical in the tank when I purchased plants that had snails, to get rid of them and it killed a lot of my plants. The ones in there now are still recovering.

When you have a tank with 98% females that give birth every 23-28 days your tank fills in quickly. :)

Yep. That stuff is evil. I will NEVER use it again. It caused all my fish to sit on the bottom of the tank. They looked like they were about to die so I ended up having to do a complete water change.

    Hello Anthony,

What is the name of the chemical so that us newbies can avoid it? I sure would hate to suffer the loss of a bunch of plants that I put money into!

Thanks Anthony for having such a great forum.

Your Tank Looks Like It Will Be Very Nice Once The Plants Recover From The Chemical.

Aren't snails good for plants? I threw a handful in my tank, hoping they will eat dead plant material so I don't have to clean up so much. So far they don't eat my plants, but then there's only 10 or so hiding in there so far.

Snails will help clean your tank, and I think dead plant material too. I've heard so many stories of tanks becoming overpopulated with snails that I didn't want to take the chance in my tank.

ohhh i am late on this one but 10 snails now and since a snail is both male and female you should have wayyyyyyyyyy to many snails now.
Now for the Had a snail product
its no good go and get you 3-4 yoyo loaches and you will have snail control plus very active fish that dont get much bigger then 3-4 inches.
Now tha Clown loach will eat anils too but will uproot your plants and get to be a foot or more in size.

I believe it, been finding lots of snail egg clusters already. They get busy fast!

That's Ok, if they go crazy I'll bag some up and offer them on the trading forum!

I had two clown loaches in my planted tank (about 4 years ago) and they did awesome snail-control. Sadly they all died in a power-outage 18 months ago. My fam. was out of town and our house sitter had no idea what to do.... sidetracked, oops.. anyway, loaches do a fab. job for snail control.

    Re: My Planted Endler Tank

I just had my sister send me a picture of my tank.

Clearly they don't maintain the tank like I do. I HAVE to get up there soon to get them.

I'm kind of embarrassed to post this picture.
