I always set the gravel first then add water then decorations then cycle then add fish ^^ Your combo seems pretty wierd to me but hey if you like it :D

I was going to say that too Guido.... Usually I do the substrate first... decorations (hardscape)and last add water and cycle.... of course live plants dont go until I start stocking the tank....

well I'm going to test it out with decoy fishies and see if the water is suitable for the real cichlid ..I'll be making a water change when I add the substrate...Then add rocks and other decoration...

    Re: New Tank Setup Empty

I really does look good.... the cloudiness will settle.... leave the tank alone for a week! That is why most of us were like "why did you not add substrate before filling it?" Adding that stuff makes a mess.... Again, just give it time!

Any thoughts of adding a few plants? You have REALLY nice rock-work in there!

If not, I'd do a nice sized partial (thinking it's from the rocks)...and if it's still there cheat and use Clarity.

    Re: New Tank Setup Empty

BTW I want to add... when you fill the tank, pour the water into your hand as you are pouring it so it does not stir up the substrate..

You could also sink a plate or a bowl and pour onto it... I prefer just pouring on my hand

I pour my water onto a big spoon so I don't have to get my hands wet.
