    thx, i just finished another 10% wc, it's been helping a bit...but i'm wasting alot of salt....

    yep sure did, it's still reading 30ppm, i'm going to check tomorrow morning again since i just finish another wc.

    That's really odd for it to still show nitrates even after dosing the tank with Prime. I assume you're dosing for the full tank size and not just the amount you replace ?

    ok, so i'm suppose to dose the whole tank?
    i've only been dosing the amount i replaced.....you should of told me before....

    Normally yeah, you just dose the amount you replace.

    I'm sorry, I thought you knew what I meant when I said about dosing the tank. Dump some prime in the tank for the whole volume then test it. It should read zero in a few minutes (Once it circulates throughout the whole tank). I'd use 2 cap fulls since it's a 75 gallon.

    well for now the lights are going to go off so i'll wait untill tomorrow....

    Okay, just let us know what happens after dosing the whole tank with Prime. Then wait 24 hours and test the nitrates again and see what they read.

    Get a new test kit,or a different one from someone else. I think the test kit might be bad. How old is the test kit. Sometimes after just six months they give false readings. With all the water changes you are the nitrates should not go that high that fast. Or something in your tank is dead.

    I doubt the test kit is bad since he used it to test his tap water and everything came up with zeros.

    i just bought the test kits....one for my tank (marine lab) and the other master freshwater kit for my tap water.....

    i have but if i don't really know too much about something i read and read and read, well you get the picture. i don't want to screw something up.

    lol that's totally understandable.
    Right now I think it might be like you said, decaying food that you can't see or reach.
