Okay, sounds good. It should read zero. Have you posted pictures of your tank ?

Yeah, I just went through and found the picture of your tank. I couldn't remember how much rock you had in it. I was going to suggest moving it and cleaning under everything really well but clearly that's not an option.

10ppm is good. Did you use a double dose or just one cap full ?

i doubled since a capfull treats 50 gal. mine a 72 with the extra in the sump and my canister filter roughly 80.

Okay good. That's odd that is didn't read zero when you tested it. I wouldn't think it would go up 10ppm that quickly. Next time you test it let us know what it reads. 10ppm is still A LOT better than what it was to begin with. Until the cause of the problem is found I'd continue to dose the tank with Prime when it gets above or close to 40ppm.

i think i'm going to break down the tank soon and get to the bottom of it....the thing is i break down the tank and everything has to go into my quarantine tank until the next day because it gets too cloudy to work with it....

I was gonna blame the wet dry... but the LR should take care of that.
You might wanna try removing the LR from the wet dry and brushing it to see if that helps (if it rises again)
Actually I've heard that Bio-Wheels could cause an increase in nitrate too in SW Tanks.

the wet/dry is fairly new so i know it's not that..but i think it's the biowheel too.....it's been a while since i've rinsed the wheels so i'm going to do that today.

Check this out trajic, I thought I already posted this message but I couldnt find it anywhere lol. I dont know if you have heard of these methods before, but some of these guys talk about using vodka and sugar to lower nitrates. Hope this helps, actually I hope you solved the problem and this is irrelevant!

How's the nitrate problem ? I was doing some research and found some information on elevated nitrates in reef tanks.
