    Store Name: Pet Forum
Store Location: 167 Seminole Ct Charlottesville, VA
At first I wasn't crazy about this place. The first time I went there they didn't have hardly any saltwater fish. They have quite a few freshwater varieties. Now this is my main LFS. They order any fish/invert I want and are friendly.

Yeah, I was in there when the store was closed to the public. The new manager let me come by two days they were closed. I haven't been in since it was finished. They're getting more saltwater tanks. I may ride up there to see what's going on. I need some more brine shrimp anyway.

Staff are very nice people. I met the owner Pete. Real nice guy and seems knowledgable. Not sure if he owned the shop, then sold it, and now bought back?? Story was a little confusing.

Community fish area was bright and clean. Six tiger barbs I got are healthy and look good.

I'm not into live plants but he seemed to have a nice selection

Cichlid/salt water area was a bit of a mess. Dark and most tanks empty. Terrible selection of CA/SA. Hopefully they will improve on the visual/stocking area here.

I have been asking around for used media to all friends and no one has fish tanks. Maybe the demand is not great enough for fish around here.

    Pete was the original owner.

The Cichlid/Saltwater area is undergoing a lot of changes still.

Maybe, it was pretty busy when I was there. I don't remember what time it was though, before 3:00 I know that.

Re: Pet Forum - Charlottesville, VA

I wanted to update this since I've been having a lot of problems lately.

Since Pete started managing the store (the original owner) things have changed a bit. They changed suppliers which I'm not happy with, they have a ton of new employees in there that, to me, seem like they don't know very much about fish.

Their new supplier is apparently hit or miss when it comes to quality fish. I have lost a total of 5 Otto Cats purchased from them in the last 2 weeks, 2 Habrosus Cory Cats, and this morning I lost a Bristlenose Pleco.

Ive noticed that as well. But they are still the best place in town to buy fish.

They're basically the only place, which frustrates me so much. If I had another choice I would go somewhere else.

No, that's a little far to drive. If I were going to drive that far I'd just go to Richmond which is closer and has more options.

Re: Pet Forum - Charlottesville, VA

I returned the Bristlenose Pleco for store credit today. They had a very nice healthy looking albino Bushynose Pleco I was tempted to get. The same guy that claimed my pH killed my Ottos last time again (tested my water incorrectly) said my pH, although down to 7.5 killed the Bristlenose Pleco. He said my pH burned his gills and that killed him. I asked what their pH was, he said about 7.2. Going from 7.2 to 7.5 over a 3+ hour drip should not kill a fish. I just told him to give me store credit please and left it at that. He beyond made me mad today by obviously listening to what the other employees were saying as I was trying to speak to him. He also claimed I had ammonia and nitrite in my water which I know is NOT true because I tested it before I went to the store and when I got home just to be sure. This is the same guy I dealt with before and had problems with. I should have got his name, I'll ask next time for anyone that goes there so you can avoid him.
