i hate to say it but i should have went to walmart. if i would have had this problem there and contacted corprate they would give me a 20$$ giftcard, and solved the problem even if only for a little while. i complained once about a bday cake and now when i go to get a cake they are 10 times better and the cakes are too.

    Re: Not happy!!!!!

I would say relax and let the fish get acclimated before getting all worked up, fish are resilient little guys. You have the return policy and you may even be able to call corporate petsmart and have them ship you the fish of your choice since you said you had to drive a half hour to get there. Id say relax and see whats up in the morning. As for feeding the pet store probably closes at 9 so they probably feed around 8 or 830.

I wouldn't feed them tonight. I'd let them settle in and get acclimated.

A good quality flake food will work fine when you do feed them though.

That's great! Make sure you get a test kit tomorrow so you can keep an eye on the cycling process and keep the ammonia/nitiries down.

    Re: Not happy!!!!!

Your pH shouldn't really change. The ammonia and nitirtes will go up because now that you have fish they will produce ammonia. Over the next few weeks bacteria will begin to grow in the filter and on the substrate to remove ammonia. Until you have a large enough bacterial colony to remove the ammonia your fish produce your tank is cycling.

While it's cycling as your ammonia and nitrites show up in testing add aqua safe to bond with it and make it harmless to your fish. If the ammonia and nitrites get too high your fish will likely stay at the top of the tank gasping for air. If you don't take action soon, they will die.

    Re: Not happy!!!!!

The bacteria will have to appear on it's own. Use the aqua safe to remove the ammonia.
