    Re: Do You Leave Your Fish Tank Light On During the Night?

    Always give the fish some time in the dark daily, they get natural light from blind/window although not directly, lights in the tank on around 10 and off when the kids go to bed at 9. Just recently started turning off the airpumps and only using them a couple hours a day. Alot less crap stays circulating around in the tanks which give them a much better look as far as clarity

    Algae can take over VERY fast if you dont shut off the lights ESPECIALLY on a planted tank...

    Spend the extra money on a digital timer... they last longer and are easier to set than the pin timers

    I have an end table next to my tank, and at night I turn the little lamp on, It reflects on the water and looks cool and also simulates moonlight

    no, your bulbs fine...moon lights are typically actinic so I was thinking you put an actinic into your lamp (which would be neat).
    Was thinking something like the 50/50 bulb--> <a class="postlink" href="http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3733+8068+9870&pcatid=9870" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/p ... catid=9870</a>
