Diftwood is now in the tank and has been there for about three days with no wter clarity problems that I can notice. However, on one of the pieces (mopani wood I think its called) there is a white fungus or something looking thing parts of it(white translucent film, whispy almost). I do not know if its growing or anything yet. Should I be alarmed or is it natural?

It just looks like a milky film on the driftwood ? If so I wouldn't worry about it. My piece had that look at first.

Just keep an eye on it. It should go away though.

Do you think a little pimafix would nip this problem in the bud?

when i used to have driftwood something like that grew on mine, i just used to take it out and toothbrush it off with hot water, let it dry in the oven at 300 degrees, keeping an eye on it of course, then put it back in when it cooled down.

That's definitely not what mine looked like. I'd take it out and scrub it in hot water and put it back in the tank. If it returns try adding some Pimafix.
